Conserving Gas in a Digital World

With gas prices soaring well above four dollars a gallon in many parts of the country, saving money on gas consumption is probably the biggest hot topic in America today. Given the alarming cost of getting around nowadays, it is important to make the time spent in your car as efficient as possible. Here are some tips for economizing your travel this summer:
1. Go shopping once a week at a large super-center to pick up everything you need at once as opposed to making several smaller trips during the week. At many large wholesale markets they also sell gas at discount prices to members, so this can be a good opportunity to fill up for the week as well.
2. You may find your work schedule can be adjusted. Telecommuting has become very common in today’s workforce and many people are finding it possible to do their jobs from home. Talk to your boss and see if instead of five 8-hour days, you can work four 10 hour days, or even 3 normal days and work from home the rest.
3. When travelling, instead of driving to the beach in your gas guzzler, consider shipping your car instead. You can not only save money on gas, but help prevent further wear and tear on you car. Perhaps your destination has everything you need within walking distance, so rent one way.
