When it comes to sharing the roadways, who is supposed to have the right of way? There are many drivers who claim that they have the right of way when on the road. The truth of the matter is, however, that many motorists simply get annoyed too easily. If you think about it, we have to share the roadways with drivers who operate heavy equipment (i.e. tractors, construction vehicles).
There are also those drivers who get annoyed with the amount of traffic that is on the roadways. With gas prices on the rise, many people have opted for auto shipping versus driving their car anywhere. However, this still doesn’t prevent tempers from flaring for those remaining motorists who feel that they shouldn’t have to deal with cyclists on the roadways. According to a recent article in the Los Angeles Times, a driver became enraged when he had to share the roadway with some cyclists, so he slammed on his brakes in front of them, which caused one cyclist to be propelled through the air and into the car’s rear window while another cyclist was forced to the pavement.
While road rage is not uncommon, something still needs to be done. Although more drivers are relying on auto transport to ship their cars versus making long road trips, it is still not enough. Drivers need to know and realize that the roadways are made (for the most part) to be shared.
